Free Online Educational Resources: e-Learning / Early Learning Readiness Video Lectures and Instructional Material for all Courses

The curriculum includes compulsory institute core courses for all B.E students that are designed for overall development of student to evolve into a complete human being, and all of these components are not strictly restricted to prescribed syllabus but give freedom to student to pursue topics of interest. These include

Career Guidance and Counselling
OBJECTIVES
To assist students in acquiring the required knowledge, information, abilities, and experience to discover professional alternatives and restrict them down to a single choice. This professional choice has a long-term impact on their social, financial, and emotional well-being.
CAREER GUIDANCE
The career guidance wing hosts seminars with internal and external resource persons to discuss higher education options in India and overseas, job possibilities, and industry skill set requirements. The responsibilities of this wing are:
- Organizing programs to raise awareness about the value of higher education in India and abroad.
- Organize programs for competitive tests such as the CAT, GRE, and GMAT, as well as guide higher education.
- To plan and deliver a variety of personal development, soft skills, and communication skill programs.
- Arrange for Pre-Placement Training so that students may demonstrate their abilities at the interview.
CAREER COUNSELING
“Donald Super once said developing a sense of self and realizing that you change over time is important when planning your career.”
The career counseling wing helps students on realize what he/she can do in their specialization. By counseling and supporting them to eliminate insecurities. Make them more confident to take decisions based on their interests, resulting in long-term contentment with their choices.

Student Counselling System
At Deccan College of Engineering and Technology, we recognize the importance of a robust ‘Student Counselling System’ to provide effective support and address the grievances and challenges faced by our students. Our institution has established a dedicated Student Counselling System, aiming to create a platform for open interaction between students and institute authorities across various levels. We firmly believe in the involvement of our faculty members who serve as mentors, guides, and at times, local guardians for our students. These faculty members actively engage with students to cater to their emotional, intellectual, and career-related needs. Here’s how our Student Counselling System functions:
Mentor-Mentee Program
The main objective of mentor-mentee program that all students rightly educated and take right step towards building their carrier by supporting and guiding students for betterment of their academic growth, professional guidance, carrier advancement, course work specific, laboratory specific, employability and over all development and thereby contribute towards nation building.
Stage I: Assigning Mentors to Students
- The heads of departments are tasked with assigning mentors or guides to each student within their respective departments.
- Each mentor is responsible for a group of 15-20 students.
- Regular meetings between mentors and their assigned students are a key aspect of this program.
- A designated “Yellow Cards” is maintained to record the students’ performance in examinations, attendance, and any issues they might face.
- The minutes of these mentor-student meetings are meticulously recorded.
- Mentors are required to take note of concerns raised by students and take appropriate actions to address them, ensuring that any confidential issues are handled sensitively.
Stage II: Submission of Report
Mentors are responsible for preparing a report summarizing all the meetings and issues raised and addressed by their respective students. These reports are then submitted to the Principal through the Head of Department (HOD).
Guidelines for the Mentor-Mentee Program:
- Our faculty members actively engage in mentoring students to enhance their teaching and learning skills, contributing to the overall quality of higher education.
- The mentorship program is designed to support the development of academic leaders through guidance and counseling.
- To ensure the program’s efficiency, each teacher is assigned a group of students by their respective departments for mentoring.
- Regular communication between mentors and mentees is encouraged, with monthly meetings being the standard.
- Detailed records of these meetings are maintained, including attendance records and Action Taken Reports (ATR) for resolving any student grievances.
- Mentors are required to submit the Yellow Cards, meeting minutes, attendance records, and ATR to the HOD at the end of each semester
Student Development Program
The students can acquire knowledge through MOOCs from SWAYAM / NPTEL / edX / Coursera / Udacity /PurdueNext /Khan Academy / QEEE etc.
The list for MOOCs will be a dynamic one, as new courses are added from time to time. Few essential skill sets required for employability are also identified year wise. Students interested in doing MOOC courses shall register the course title taking the help of NPTEL Local Chapter of DCET. . Any expense incurred for the MOOC course / summer program should be met by the students.
International Exposure
Deccan College of Engineering and Technology Student Abdul Rahman Janoo and Team, Won Microsoft Imagine Cup 2013 Held in RUSSIA along with a Cash Prize of $20,000. Congratulations to Abdul Rahman and Team “Its been an honor for me to represent INDIA, Community, AIMIM and Deccan College in Russia” said Abdul Rahman Janoo.

Scholarships
Scholarships are financial aid that does not have to be repaid. Both Central and State Government has instituted many scholarships to help your financial needs in education. Sixty percentage of students have been benefited by scholarship. The students can avail any one of the scholarship if they are satisfied the norms.

Medical Centre
Emergency medical care and first-aid is available in the campus with one Medical Practitioner and one Nursing Assistant. General medicines are made available in the center. First-aid boxes with all accessories are kept in all laboratories where moving machinery is installed and other strategic locations.
An Ambulance with all facilities is available in the institute for emergency services.
In case of medical emergency medical centre provide the ambulance service and medical care. The Institute has signed tieup with Owasi Hospital and Research Center at DMRL Cross Rd, Santosh Nagar, Hyderabad, Telangana 500058 which is sister institute under Darrusalam Trust to avail the medical facility. The Hospital is at a distance of 9 kilometers and can be reached within 10 – 15 minutes. The Institute refers all emergency cases to the hospital.
The principal, Head of the Department, Doctor, and staff take care of medical emergencies and communicate with the parents.

The Careers and Employability Skills Training (CEST) is a unique and dedicated program under “Careers Development Center”. The advent of globalization has opened up Indian economy to the outside world. The competition among industries has become stiff; therefore it is urgently needed to prepare engineering students for jobs in multinational companies, by exposing them to newer technologies and engineering methodologies. CEST is there to create a healthy environment by engaging Industry and Academia resources combined in skill building programs (SkillUP and SkillBridge). A gap between training and placements is usually observed in academics and to combat this gap, skill building programs are designed with industries. This approach has ensured better interaction between industry and academia, enhancing relevant skills and also innovative thinking amongst the students.
CEST is working on Industry-Institute Interaction and preparing manpower of world class in the field of science and technology by inculcating various skills required by the industry. Though availability of manpower is abundant in India, well equipped manpower with employability skills is the real need of the hour. There is a need to create avenues for close academia and industry interaction through all the phases of technology development, starting from conceptualizing to commercialization.
